In its eighteen years, the Teaching Research Ethics Workshop
(TRE) at Indiana University Bloomington has gained an
international reputation for excellence, attracting over 600
participants from 42 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 14
foreign countries. We accept a maximum of 45 participants each year, to allow for extensive interaction among participants and between faculty and participants. Workshop evaluations always include effusive praise.
For the first three years of its existence, TRE received
major funding from the United States Department of
Education's Fund for
the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. When the
grant expired, the Poynter Center organized the workshop to
operate on fees and contributions from sponsors.
The sponsors of the workshop are listed above. Inquiries
from institutions wishing to sponsor the workshop are
welcome.
Sponsors contribute $1,250 to support the
workshop, and make a solid commitment to sponsorship by
October 17, 2011. Payment of the sponsorship
fee is due by November 3, 2011.
Sponsors receive a 50% discount on the workshop fee for two workshop participants. (Sponsors are welcome to send more than two participants, of course, but the discount will only apply to the first two.) We will reserve two workshop slots for sponsoring institutions until March 1, 2012, and send e-mail notifications to sponsors as the workshop fills up. Sponsors are listed on our direct-mail flyer, our Web site, and other workshop-related materials.
The Nineteenth Teaching Research Ethics Workshop will be held in Bloomington May 15-18, 2012. The workshop fee will be $700. Details can be found at Workshop Details.
